Philip Guston Paintings

Philip Guston (1913–1980) was an American painter who was born in Canada, grew up in sunny California, and eventually settled in New York. Guston was originally known as an abstract expressionist painter, however in the 1970’s he completely abandoned abstraction and embraced his own unique style of representational painting. He began painting cartoonish figures with limited color palettes, mostly featuring reds and pinks on a light background.
