U.S. Civil War Casualties

History tells us that the people of the United States of America have had their mettle tested repeatedly. Doubts were raised during the Civil War in 1861 as to whether this young nation would survive. The Civil War is evidence that Cain’s legacy lives on, when brother fought against and killed brother. The casualty rate from both sides were enormous.

The casualties of the Civil War stands as the highest total among the wars the United States has ever fought in, ever. The curious thing, two-thirds of the deaths in the Civil War came in the form of varying types of diseases while on the battlefield.

The cost of a Civil War not only decimates the economy, it creates an air of suspicion against one another, and the casualties are not just measured by who survived, but by the lives lost.
