Another fresco made by the Italian artist, Raphael around 1514 is painted in one of the interior arches of the Roman church of Santa Maria della Pace. Sibyls, which is the title of the painting, depicts four lovely women who are receiving instructions from angels. These women are able to give prophecies and are believed to deliver a message from the deities of ancient Rome.
Some people tell that these four women are the Persian, Phrygian, Tiburtine and Cumaean Sibyls, with the latter being significant since it is through her that Aeneas was able to go to the underworld and reach the Eternal City. Other artists say that this painting illustrates the attempt of the artist to combine religion with the mythological culture of Rome.
