According to a curator at the Prado, Miguel Falomir, the pose of Europa and the bull are based on a
cameo showing Augustus Caesar riding sidesaddle on a Capricorn. This cameo might be located on Google Image by typing "Augustus, cameo, Capricorn". It is the black and white photo of an oval-shaped cameo. According to Falomir, Titian changed the Capricorn into a bull, and changed Augustus into a young woman. Then all this is in reverse order since the Capricorn in the cameo is heading to the left.

Ironically, by censoring the nipple you have made it more noticeable. A female student in an art class at Long Beach State complained of sexual harassment because a teacher showed a painting of a nude woman to the class. A whole book on the nude was written by Kenneth Clark. I guess we should ban the book. Americans complain too much.
