This is because, according to Chinese tradition, only the son of the former emperor could ascend the throne. The son of the emperor had the bloodline of the &#039;Mandate of Heaven&#039; and was the only legal descendant who could receive the throne. Others who did not follow this rule and ascended the throne would be deemed as usurpers and rebels. Therefore relatives of the Crown or ministers who actually held the powers while the baby king actually held none, still deemed themselves as assisstants to the king rather than being king themselves, so that this rule was not violated and that the public would not have any objection for that. It should be noted that Chinese held a very serious attitude towards moral rules (including the above one) left by the ancestors.]]></description>
