The focus of what Martin Luther acted upon was for us to seek what God says in His Word, and through examples of His Living Word, which is Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God will speak to us as we dig into His Word, and communicate with God through prayer. God says He inhabits the praises of His people. Learning how to live a lifestyle of praise is where God is showing me how to walk in the Spirit. It is by grace (Sola Gratia) that we can do anything and everything, through Christ alone. For us to have a religious debate, arguing about the Catholic Church vs Protestants has a resounding ironic gong in my spirit… let us not miss the point here… Seek The Lord while He may be found! Search the scriptures. Pray His Word. Learn to live a lifestyle of praise. Jesus’ first lesson to the disciples, whom He called to drop their occupation to follow Him was, you must hate (value less than) everything, in relation to loving and following Him. This is an all or none deal, guys. Count the cost. Be prepared for what God really wants from us, which is EVERYTHING. It’s not an easy walk, but I can testify that the peace which passes all understanding is so worth the trade off, after laying everything else down! Paul said we must die DAILY. He said, “It is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me.” That will preach all day! God is already blessing us, and you who are reading this, count the cost, then leave it all behind. You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with your WHOLE heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13, right after in verse 11 he said,) “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

In reply to monica. When you know the truth it will set you free and if you have the Spirit of God you will know God used Martin Luther to deliver true believers from religious darkness. I thank God for his life, He interacted with the darkness of catholism but he kept his faith pure and true. This is a man of faith who even delivered nations from falling economical.

The protestant reformation which was initiated by Martin Luther is no different than the start any other movement down through human history. Good people find a platform and start getting support from like-minded people. All goes well until greedy power-hungry people come on board. Read the book of Hebrews and see how the apostle Paul had to deal with a situation which arose in a church which was started so soon after Jesus walked on this earth; the Corinthian, and Galatian churches’, suffered the same problems and Paul has to write and advise them all to turn the attention away from men and seek only God’s instruction. Read the Old Testament and it littered with examples of the Israeli nation falling out of favour with God because of allowing lust for earthly power rather than obeying God to dominate their thinking.

This article seems anti-catholics in presentation. Church need to work hard as satan had taken this advantage. I’ve read some others… Though catholics accepted that about 500ad was heresy in the church but breaking the body of Christ would not be the best, Luther should have swallow the pride and make solemn changes including prayers if God truly send him. Today catholic church is reformed but many christian do not take time to understand Luther’s arguement but joined any religion call pentecostal as against catholic without knowing it’s apostolic procession, thus, they end up joining woves. The practice may be exploiting but indulgence is meaningful….

In reply to Christian Chavez. Please Christian, do more research. This article is NOT accurate as to the role of the Catholic Church and is, in fact, anti'-Catholic in its view point. This was not about power...it was about maintaining the truth, which has its fullness in the Catholic faith. Even Martin Luther, when he was dying, was sorrowful for the results and the divisions in the Church which had come about because of his pride. There were reforms that needed to be made in the Church, however once Luther's pride entered in, the devil took hold and now we can see the results of that with over 30,000 different religions in the world. Luther should have worked within the Church with humility and not been prideful and started his own.
