The colonists were not starving, in fact, they were prospering and were seeking to expand outside of the boundaries of land purchased from local native american tribes. Metacomet had very little land left and was almost forced to fight for return of some land. Colonists did nothing to prevent the conflict. Colonists used Metacomet&#039;s  predicament to their advantage and saw conflict as a means of taking all remaining land claimed by native americans in the R.I. and Southeastern Mass.]]></description>
