Jeff Koons Paintings

Jeff Koons is an American artist who gained popularity in the mid 1980s with the Neo-Pop Art movement. He is probably most widely known for his work with sculptures although his portfolio also includes paintings and the use of ready-made objects. Koons was born on January 25, 1955 in York, Pennsylvania. He went to study art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as well as the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Koons’ art focuses on pop culture, modern day commodities and oddities.

Koons is the subject of artistic controversy, some critics view his work as a profound part of contemporary art history, while others frown upon his work, labeling it as kitsch. For himself, Koons’ has stated that there is no hidden meaning behind his work.
