George Frederick Watts Paintings

George Frederic Watts (February 23, 1817 – July 1, 1904) was a well-known English Victorian sculptor and painter. He was associated with the Symbolist movement. Watts became renowned in his lifetime for his allegorical works, such as Love and Life and Hope. He intended for these paintings to symbolize an ideology called the “House of Life”, in which the aspirations and emotions of life would all be represented in a universal, symbolic language.
