No doubt this is the most political related statue of all times .
I don’t understand why they did that , to cover the area of the penis of the statue .
it was a stupid puritan gesture , and bizarre and pathological .

I do not agree with CHRIS PV, YOLO SWAGGINS, and also TOM MALLON. I am to think that a teacher would find this site see that the picture was kid safe and then show it to the students especially middle and high school students would you really want them to see that and if you have kids (to those I mentioned before.) do YOU want them to see that because a teacher thought it was safe and because of you they saw things like that. Think about other peoples preferences and think before you think of yours.That is all bye

Alas, it cannot be “Totally” history if self-imposed censorship prevails over the world’s most celebrated piece of sculpture. Regarding the broadest possible internet censorship, artwork falls well beyond pornography. Unless of course you’re taking into consideration the ecumenical rulings of the 1545-63 Council of Trent. Are we back to that? Would a naked female have been more permissible?

I saw this statue and was mesmerized by the realism of the cuticles of David’s toes. I could not move away from it for the longest time. My husband thought I had become a statue myself. This statue is a marvel of detail unmatched by any other sculptor of the period. The uncultured have no idea what they’re missing when unable to enjoy art unburdened by overwrought, misplaced sensibilities.
