1879Mar 14. Albert Einstein is born in Ulm, Germany.
1880Einstein’s family moves to Munich.
1894Einstein’s family moves to Italy.
1895Einstein attempts to skip the entrance exam for the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zurich, but fails.
1896Einstein is admitted to the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zurich.
1900Einstein graduates from the Swiss Federal Polytechnic with a degree in physics.
1901Einstein becomes a Swiss citizen.
1902Einstein takes a job as a technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office.

Mar. Einstein publishes four groundbreaking papers on the photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, special relativity, and mass-energy equivalence.

Oct. Einstein completes his doctoral thesis.

1908Einstein begins working as a lecturer at the University of Bern.
