Albert Bierstadt (January 7, 1830 – February 18, 1902) was a German-American painter. He was known for his landscapes of the American West. Bierstadt joined several journeys of expansion to the West. Though not the first artist to journal these sites, Bierstadt became the go-to painter for Western paintings for the rest of the nineteenth century. Learn more »
