Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (July 15, 1606 – October 4, 1669) was a Dutch etcher and painter. Rembrandt is considered one of the most prominent painters in Dutch history. His artistic contributions to the history of art brought about what historians refer to as the Dutch Golden Age. Rembrandt achieved success at an early age as a painter, but his later years were ridden by tragedy and personal financial tribulations.
