Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso was, and is still, famous for his various forms of art, including paintings and sculptures. Picasso was also a stage designer, a ceramicist and a printmaker. He was born in 1881 in Malaga, Spain, and died at the age of 91 in France. Picasso started painting under his father’s training. He used to illustrate an art journal in 1901, and little by little he became one of the favorites of various art collectors.

Artworks and Styles

Picasso’s works of art are categorized in different periods. His first paintings are categorized in a period that is referred to as the Blue Period. These are rather gloomy paintings, such as The Old Guitarist and La Vie. Afterwards, The Rose Period includes more cheerful colors and depictions of harlequins and acrobats, amongst others. Later, he painted works of art which were influenced by African styles and Cubism. After 1919, his works were more surrealistic.
