Dream City depicts an imaginary world that is full of contrast and wonder. The use of cubist influence with change in color in each distinct shape gives a subtle look to the painting. Dream City is a masterpiece in terms of the range of color shades that are used in the painting. The use of blue and green blended with mauve shades of water color in the cubistic painting adds to the depth and quality of the painting. The painting gives the feel of a vibrant, bustling city life. Klee’s painting combines elements of expressionism, futurism, cubism, abstraction and surrealism.
